Albert Gipp awarded second annual USATF Milton Hershey Award
INDIANAPOLIS -- A longtime advocate for track and field in the Native American community, Albert Gipp of Lawrence, Kansas, has been awarded the 2016 USATF Milton Hershey Award. Created by the partnership between USATF and Hershey, the Milton Hershey Award annually honors an individual whose volunteer contributions to youth track & field and fitness has positively affected the lives of young people.
EUGENE, OREGON -- The USATF Race Walk Committee has made the decision to move the start time of the men’s and women’s U.S. Olympic Trials 20km race walk earlier due to the weather forecast. The new start times are 9:00 a.m. for the men’s race and 9:01 a.m. for the women’s race.
Youth athletes start off strong during day one of Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships
MILLERSVILLE, Pennsylvania -- The first day of the 2016 Hershey Youth Outdoor Championships began on Tuesday, bringing together nearly 3,000 premier youth athletes from around the country to grace Biemesderfer Stadium at Millersville University.
Taylor DeLoach didn’t waste any time letting people know she would be a dominant force in track and field at St. Vincent’s and her club team On Your Mark Sports. As a freshman, she won region titles in three events and was state runner-up in the long jump. She established new state records in the long jump and the 200 and captured six state titles during her sophomore and junior years. Her athletic abilities carried her to a top-10 ranking at the 2015 New Balance National Outdoor meet and a top-three finish in the 2015 Junior Olympic Games. Her accomplishments earned a scholarship to Ohio State University. .
